If being a maverick means reaching across the aisle in trying to get certain bills passed, almost anyone can be a maverick. Bipartisanship is kind of overrated, in a sense. I mean, anyone can be bipartisan depending on how strongly liberal or conservative they are on a certain issue. It doesn't take much effort.

Great site! I gotta remember to look this up when I get my computer tower. I hate both Obama and Mccain, personally. McCain is hardly a 'maverick', too. If being a 'maverick' means having a few moderate or liberal positions on a few issues while being conservative on just about everything else, hell, anyone can be a "maverick." It's ridiculous. McCain, if you look at his stances on all the major social and economic issues, IS a conservative! People need to stop spreading this myth that he's a moderate or a maverick. He's just a typical Republican like Obama is a typical Democrat.

I'm voting for nader, btw. He's a real progressive.

Hi Frank -

I don't expect that many Democrats will be voting for McCain. While some conservative pundits think that there are hoards of Democratic voters that are smarting at the Hillary Clinton primary defeat, this won't translate into a rush of voters switching parties.

It's shaping up to be largely a campaign for Obama to lose, and barring some major change in the political landscape, he'll probably be elected president in November.

DemocratsforMcCain.com

Well, it is up and running. There is now a web site dedicated to all those Democrats who will not/can not vote for the Democratic presumptive nominee.

The site reaches out to all those Democrats for McCain - those Democrats that have the courage to acknowledge that they will cast their vote for John McCain in November. Courage? How many Democrats have you spoken to that are willing to admit that their Party Candidate is not ready to take on the office of President of the United States? President Obama? I will vote for him in '16. Three years in the Senate makes not a good President of the free world.

I have spoken to a lot of them, Democrats for McCain, but they are so far unwilling to publicly speak out. A new silent majority. A middle class, hard working majority that can not trust their future to someone untested to date.

They feel more comfortable with John McCain. His age. His war record. His record in the Senate. His record of bi-partisanship.

They know what they are getting with John McCain.

Let's see if the site will open up the "silent McCain majority" and start a real discussion about the next President of the United States.
